The Dress Code Policy that follows applies to school or school-related activities.
All MVCS students will follow the Uniformity Dress Code. Parents of any students not in compliance with these requirements will be contacted immediately because students will not be allowed to attend class until properly dressed. WE REQUIRE THE PARTNERSHIP OF PARENTS IN THE ENFORCEMENT OF THE DRESS CODE.
THE DISCIPLINARY STEPS FOR STUDENTS WHO DO NOT FOLLOW THE DRESS CODE:
1ST OFFENSE: VERBAL WARNING; EXCLUDED FROM CLASS - PARENTS CONTACTED TO BRING PROPER CLOTHING.
2ND OFFENSE: WRITTEN WARNING; EXCLUDED FROM CLASS - PARENTS CONTACTED TO BRING PROPER CLOTHING
3RD OFFENSE: EXCLUDED FROM CLASS - PARENTS MUST MEET WITH ADMINISTRATOR BEFORE STUDENT MAY RETURN TO CLASS.
4TH OFFENSE: SUSPENSION FROM MOUNTAIN VIEW CHRISTIAN SCHOOL
UNIFORMITY DRESS CODE
ALL CLOTHING IS TO BE CLEAN, NEAT, AND WELL PRESSED. JEANS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN ANY STYLE OR COLOR. NO DENIM. CLOTHING WITH PICTURES, CAPTIONS,OR SLOGANS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED. (This does not apply to regular product logos.)
BOYS' DRESS:
SLACKS: Dress Pants, Casual Style Dress Pants (like Dockers), or Cargo Pants (with pockets on legs). Solid Colors Only. Pants must fit at waist and be worn with a belt. No baggy, extra long, low waist or sloppy style pants (with holes, designs, etc.)
SHIRTS: Dress Shirts or Polo Shirts. Shirts must have a collar. Solid, stripes, and plaid colors only. NO PRINTS OR DESIGNS. All shirts must be tucked in unless designed to be worn outside, AND NOT over-sized or tight fitting. Sweaters, sweater vests, plain sweatshirts must have a collared shirt underneath. Regular product logos (Nike, etc.), team logos, or Christian logos are acceptable on sweatshirts. NO T-SHIRTS UNLESS WORN UNDER THE ABOVE SHIRTS.
NO JEANS, DENIM, CORDUROY, OR CAMOUFLAGE FOR ANY OF THE ABOVE.
SHOES: Neat, clean, athletic shoes or dress shoes. (Athletic shoes should have non-marring soles.) Shoes with laces must be laced and tied. Socks must be worn.(See #15 under UNACCEPTABLE DRESS CODE ITEMS.)
HAIR: Boys' hair shall be styled in a clean, neat manner. HAIR SHALL BE CUT NEATLY ABOVE THE EAR, ONE INCH OFF THE COLLAR, AND BANGS NOT BELOW THE EYEBROWS. NO RATTAILS, DESIGNS SHAVED IN THE HAIR, UNNATURAL FADDISH HAIR DYEING, NO MOHAWKS, ETC. BOYS WEARING MUSTACHES, BEARDS, OR GOATEES MUST KEEP THEM NEATLY TRIMMED AT ALL TIMES. IF NOT WEARING WHAT WAS JUST LISTED, BOYS SHALL BE CLEAN-SHAVEN. SIDEBURNS ARE NOT TO BE WORN BELOW THE EAR.
JEWELRY: Jewelry should be kept at a minimum for safety reasons. No excessive or gaudy jewelry. No earrings for boys.
GIRLS' DRESS:
SLACKS: Dress pants, Casual style pants (like dockers), or cargo pants (with pockets on legs), Capris (mid-calf). Sold colors only.
DRESSES: Dresses, suits, jumpers, skirts, and culottes MUST come to the knee. Solid, stripes, and plaid colors (no prints, florals, or designs).SHIRTS: Polo Shirts or Blouses (must have a collar).Solid, stripes, and plaid colors only. (NO PRINTS, FLORALS, OR DESIGNS.) SHIRTS AND BLOUSES MUST BE TUCKED IN UNLESS DESIGNED TO BE WORN OUTSIDE AND MUST NOT BE OVER-SIZED OR TIGHT FITTING. Sweaters, sweater vests, plain sweatshirts must have a collared shirt underneath. Standards for Chapel: This same dress code applies to chapel.
HAIR: Girls' hair shall be styled in a clean, neat manner. Bangs must not be below eyebrows. No rattails, designs shaved into hair, unnatural faddish hair dyeing, etc.
JEWELRY: JEWELRY SHOULD BE KEPT AT A MINIMUM FOR SAFETY REASONS. NO EXCESSIVE OR GAUDY JEWELRY.
UNACCEPTABLE CLOTHING/DRESS
1. No jeans, denim, camouflage, or corduroy for boys and girls slacks and shirts. (See individual dress code sections.)
2. No sweat pants, sweat suits, or wind suits.
3. No shorts or skorts.
4. No sleeveless dresses, shirts or blouses.
5. No off-the-shoulder sweaters, shirts, or blouses.
6. No tank tops.
7. No tee shirts (unless worn under collared shirt).
8. No clothing with pictures, captions, slogans or clothing which promotes TV or movie characters. (Only solids, stripes, and plaids--see shirt section.)
9. No buttons, badges, lunch boxes, backpacks, clothing, jewelry, school supplies or insignia that are unchristian, racial, vulgar, antiSemitic, satanic or in any other way unacceptable to the Christian school setting. This includes Harry Potter, Pokeman, etc.)
10. No baggy, extra long, sloppy/sagging style pants or pants with holes.
11. No tight-fitting, see-through clothing, no low-cut shirts or blouses. No shirts or blouses which expose the middle or lower back. Slacks must fit and be worn at the waist.
12. No mini-skirts.
13. No excessive or gaudy jewelry or make-up. No faddish styles of these which include black nail polish or black lipstick.
14. No tattoos or body piercing (nose rings, lip rings, etc.),
15. No shoes which are hazardous to safety. Sandals, flip-flops, open-toed, closed-toe but open-heel are all examples of unsafe shoes that are NOT PERMITTED. They have proven to be very dangerous to wear at school, on the playground, on the steps, etc.
16. BOOTS AND SHOES ARE TO HAVE 1-INCH OR LESS HEELS.
17. Hats for boys and girls are NOT TO BE WORN INSIDE THE BUILDING AT MVCS.
ANYTHING THAT IS UN-CHRISTIAN, RACIAL, VULGAR, ANTISEMITIC, SATANIC, OR IN ANY OTHER WAY UNACCEPTABLE TO THE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL SETTING IS UNACCEPTABLE AT MOUNTAIN VIEW CHRISTIAN SCHOOL.
THE ADMINISTRATION RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MAKE THE FINAL DECISION REGARDING THE APPROPRIATE DRESS.
